Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program offers additional grant money to undergraduates who demonstrate exceptional need. In practice, Pell Grant recipients whose student aid reports indicate the lowest expected family contributions (EFCs) receive first consideration for the FSEOG. The award is dispensed by the student's college as part of the total financial package.
The specific amount a student receives is determined by the financial aid office and is based on:
- the student's financial need
- the total amount of financial aid already received
- funds available at the student's college
After completing the FAFSA form, student eligibility and award amounts are determined using the same process as Pell Grants. If you are eligible and funds are available, your school will either pay you directly by check or credit your account at least once per term.
